Photography checklist and tips

Consider your photographer as one of the most important members of your wedding party.
You want a professional who will be experienced in capturing such a joyous occasion that will last
a lifetime. You need to personally interview photographers, review their work, and talk about the
pictures you envision.  Discuss your budget clearly at this meeting. Be sure you understand the
package you will be buying, when your images will be ready, and how long the images will be
kept in the photographer's filing system.  Realize also, that price is not always the most important
issue. Look for someone with quality and creativity, and one who has respect for the sacredness
of the ceremony.  Ask for references and finally, be sure you feel comfortable with the
photographer.

A dilemma may arise regarding when and how much time should be allowed for the formal
portraits to be taken.  Ask yourself, Do I want to see my fiance/fiancee prior to the ceremony?
Also, some couples may want to minimize the time between the ceremony and reception so they
do not keep their guests waiting.  There are a few options. One choice is to take all the formal
portraits prior to the ceremony. The second choice is to schedule the reception approximately
one hour after the ceremony to give the photographer time to capture the formal portraits. So
consider your wedding day schedule and the size of the wedding party when you, your fiance,
and your photographer decide.

During the formal portraits, appoint someone from your party to assist in making sure all the
desired family groupings are taken.

Finally, if there are any sensitive situations in your families, such as recently deceased
grandparents or divorced parents, inform your photographer.

Below is a sample list of a wedding poses. As a wedding photographer I look for pictures
throughout the event, which shots that  will tell your story better than just posed or set-up shots.
This style is  'photojournalistic'  which ensures your photos tell the story of your special day,
unique to you.
